Title: Passages that reveal the mystery doctrine for the Church-age; John 15:20

The city of man can fulfill man’s desires through programs managed by government experts would make this world a perfectly satisfying place to live with no help from God. LBJ

ISA 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,

Because the Lord has anointed me

To bring good news to the afflicted;

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to captives,

And freedom to prisoners;

ISA 61:2 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord,

[The Lord stopped right here - “today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:21]

And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn,

ISA 61:3 To grant those who mourn in Zion,

Giving them a garland instead of ashes,

The oil of gladness instead of mourning,

The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.

So they will be called oaks of righteousness,

The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

Passages that reveal the mystery:

1 Cor 2:6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;

1 Cor 2:7 but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

The mystery doctrine was designed to specifically glorify the Church.

This doctrine is unlike any other in history. Virtue from God embodied in a divine nature imputed to a fallen creature. [Arete, Aries the God of War, courage, the courage to love rather than on the battlefield]

1 Cor 2:8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;

1 Cor 2:9 but just as it is written,

"Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard,

And which have not entered the heart of man,

All that God has prepared for those who love Him."

The mystery includes blessings that stagger the imagination for those who love God [not to the moral or the law followers].

1 Cor 2:10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

The mystery is only revealed through the Holy Spirit who indwells every CA believer. He reveals the deep things of God.

1 Cor 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1 Cor 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.

The mystery includes the imminent return of Christ to Rapture His Church, thus delivering her from the Tribulation.

1 Cor 15:53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.

1 Cor 15:54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "Death is swallowed up in victory.

1 Cor 15:55 "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"

The mystery is absolute victory over death through the work of Jesus Christ thus death becomes a celebration of eternal security and not a time of fear of the unknown.

EPH 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

The mystery is the complete covering of sin and the redemption of the entire human race.

EPH 1:8 which He lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight

The mystery is the dispensation of grace being lavished [superabounded] on each believer regardless of his origin.

EPH 1:9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him

EPH 1:10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fulness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things upon the earth. In Him

The mystery is the guarantee that Christ will return to the earth to fulfil His Millennium as promised to the Jews and all of us will be summed up in Him.

EPH 1:11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,

The mystery is that every believer is a fellow heir with Christ as God has purposed.

EPH 1:12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

EPH 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation —  having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

EPH 1:14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.

The mystery is the sealing ministry of God the HS on the contract of each believer meaning that each belongs to God and each has an inheritance, all of which brings glory to Him alone.

EPH 5:32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.

The mystery is that each believer is betrothed to One Husband, the Lord Jesus Christ, forever.

COL 1:24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body (which is the church) in filling up that which is lacking in Christ's afflictions.

COL 1:25 Of this church I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,

COL 1:26 that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations; but has now been manifested to His saints,

COL 1:27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The mystery is that Christ indwells the body of every believer which is to give confidence in future deliverance no matter what.

1 John 4:4

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

COL 1:28 And we proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in Christ.

The mystery is that every believer has equal privilege and equal opportunity to become mature in reference to Jesus Christ.

COL 1:29 And for this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

COL 2:1 For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf, and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face,

COL 2:2 that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself,

The mystery is Christ Himself.

That means all that He was, is, and will be. COL 1:26 - this has now been manifested to His saints (called out ones).

COL 2:3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

The holidays are coming. This is what we should be thankful for and this is the ultimate gift to receive.

1 Tim 3:16 And by common confession great is the mystery of godliness:

He who was revealed in the flesh,

Was vindicated in the Spirit,

Beheld by angels,

Proclaimed among the nations,

Believed on in the world,

Taken up in glory.

The mystery of the spiritual life is Jesus Christ. His incarnation, His ministry, His spiritual death, His legacy, His bride and royal family, and His ascension and session.

Where did you read works? Where did you see JW or Mormon faiths? Where was OT law? Where was legalism, sin, morality, eschatology? Where were any of the things that so many make priority?

What I read was a set of doctrines that will glorify the church, that includes blessings that stagger the imagination to the fellow heirs of Christ, that are revealed through the HS who indwells each believer and who has sealed the contract of every believer, that comforts all with the promise of the imminent return of Christ, that reveals His victory over death, where grace is lavished, and all believers belong to God, and are betrothed to Christ, and are destined to become mature in Christ, and where all believers from all dispensation will be summed up in Christ’s victory at the end of human history. Was not the mystery Christ himself in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom?

In all this I didn’t see one time where we were asked to do anything except to love Him. Is that so hard? Is it too much, are you too busy, and are there more important and pressing things for you to do?

Sure, we’ll be persecuted and put under pressure from the world, but we will also be refreshed by those with whom we share this mystery as our utmost priority.

Make no mistake, the mystery is comprised of a specific set of doctrines which are a key to opening up all the OT doctrines as well as the doctrines concerning the future dispensations and without that key the things concerning past and future dispensations will remain clouded. To focus solely on OT doctrine will not reveal it and the same is true of eschatology.

This is why in our study of the Gospel of John things really slowed down in chapter 13, and it is no mistake that we began this little project at that same time. God is so good!
