Your heart is the most important part of you. It is protected and made healthy with doctrine. John 12:39-40

Class Outline:

John 12:39 For this cause they could not believe, for Isaiah said again,

John 12:40 "He has blinded their eyes, and He hardened their heart; lest they see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and be converted, and I heal them."

We will look at this verse very carefully because it reveals your true enemy. You have three enemies, the world, the devil, and the OSN, however none of them can affect you unless you allow them to. So really, your true enemy is you. But we don’t categorize you as an enemy because it is your volition that is in view and positive volition is your greatest door towards good. So it is negative volition that brings the most tragedy, and that’s what this verse is all about.

/And like a stress test at the doctor’s office will reveal the strength of your physical heart, the opportunity for application of wisdom from metabolized doctrine will reveal to you the strength of your invisible heart in the soul.\

/Ps 26:2

Examine me, O Lord, and try me;

Test my mind and my heart.\

To David, his heart was so important that he actually prayed that God test it so that he could see if it was as strong as he wanted it to be.

/The heart is made up of 8 different parts:

1. The frame of reference, the area for retention of metabolised doctrine.\

/2. The memory centre which circulates e)pignwsij[epignosis] doctrine to the various parts of the right lobe under the principle of recall. \

/3. The vocabulary storage which is the new language of biblical theology learned after salvation. [don’t memorize, but be humble under the principle of repetition]\

/4. Categorical storage where classification of doctrines are located.\

/5. The conscience, the storage compartment for individual norms and standards.\

/6. The momentum department which is the mental area for spiritual growth, the function of metabolized doctrine in both normal and accelerated growth.\

It is in the momentum department that you have the function of the ten problem-solving devices, along with the seventh part, wisdom.

/7. The wisdom department, the launching pad for the application of doctrine to experience. \

/8. The subconscious which is storage for impressions, thoughts, emotions, which do not exist in the conscious mind or in the emotions of the soul.\

Think of how important that piece of equipment is to the working of you.

Negative volition towards doctrine for a length of time will cause scar tissue (the accumulation of false doctrines, false impressions, false conclusions, and false reality) to build up with the result that doctrine no longer circulates.

Since the soul must breath, if it is not breathing doctrine then it’s breathing garbage that is dressed up to look like the truth. The heart being a part of the soul therefore fills with the garbage and like a clogged filter it no longer operates in the power and freedom that God designed it to do.

/And without the working of God the Holy Spirit doctrine doesn’t even make it to the heart. \

If you have doctrine in your heart you owe it to the doctrine itself, which is the mind of Christ and to the filling of the Holy Spirit who metabolizes that doctrine.

You made the choice to hear, but that amounts to faith in the importance of doctrine and all merit in faith falls upon the object of faith. Therefore, a healthy heart is a non-meritorious process of which you can take no credit.

Never judge another believer who has a sick heart, but rather as a fellow member of the body of Christ find a way to help him see his error through prayer and love.

If fact this is the law of love: When the law of love is directed toward God it is personal love for God.

/When directed toward others the law of love is the function of impersonal unconditional love and in essence, this law avoids offending the weaker brethren and becoming a distraction to their spiritual growth. This law is expressed in 1 Corinthians 8:13.\

1 Cor 8:7 However not all men have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

1 Cor 8:8 But food will not commend us to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat.

1 Cor 8:9 But take care lest this liberty of yours somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.

1 Cor 8:10 For if someone sees you, who have knowledge, dining in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

1 Cor 8:11 For through your knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died.

1 Cor 8:12 And thus, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.

1 Cor 8:13 Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, that I might not cause my brother to stumble.

When it is weak, refers to any believer whose heart has become sick through false doctrine or cosmic living.

Judging the weak believer is often done from behind the pulpit and is one of the reasons why people don’t want to go to church.
