Class Outline:

Title: Rebound revisited. 1CO 11:28; 1JO 1:8-10; EPH 4:17; 2TI 2:25.

1.Judge yourself throughout, separating divine thoughts from sin and human good.

It is obvious that in order to judge yourself you will need to know what sin and human good are, and so some time is needed as a serious student of the word of God before you can grasp control of your life under the power of the new creature in Christ.

1CO 11:27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.

1CO 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

1CO 11:29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he does not judge the body rightly.

1CO 11:30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep.

1CO 11:31 But if we judged ourselves rightly, we should not be judged.

Judgment and confession or acknowledging are two different words. Judging myself means I come to conclusions about right or wrong, good or evil within my thinking. I have to make a correct assessment. I’m sure the Corinthians were evaluating themselves and found nothing wrong with what they were doing, so why acknowledge wrong doing?

1CO 11:32 But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord in order that we may not be condemned along with the world.

1CO 11:33 So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.

1CO 11:34 If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you may not come together for judgment. And the remaining matters I shall arrange when I come.

2.Acknowlege the sin, evil, wrong, error, human good, etc.

How could you stop the current trend of sin if you didn’t know you were in a current trend?

1JO 1:5 And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

1JO 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;

1JO 1:7 but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1JO 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1JO 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1JO 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

1JO 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

1JO 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

3.Cease from the current trend of sin, human good, or evil.

EPH 4:14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

EPH 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ,

EPH 4:16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

EPH 4:17 This I say therefore, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

EPH 4:18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;

EPH 4:19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality, for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.

EPH 4:20 But you did not learn Christ in this way,

EPH 4:21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,

EPH 4:22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,

EPH 4:23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

EPH 4:24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

EPH 4:25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth, each one of you, with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.

EPH 4:26 Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,

EPH 4:27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.

EPH 4:28 Let him who steals steal no longer; but rather let him labor, performing with his own hands what is good, in order that he may have something to share with him who has need.

EPH 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear.

EPH 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

EPH 4:31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.

EPH 4:32 And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

4. Change your system of thinking.

2TI 2:11 It is a trustworthy statement:

For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him;

2TI 2:12 If we endure, we shall also reign with Him;

If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

2TI 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself.

2TI 2:14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless, and leads to the ruin of the hearers.

2TI 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.

2TI 2:16 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,

2TI 2:17 and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

2TI 2:18 men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and thus they upset the faith of some.

2TI 2:19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of the Lord abstain from wickedness."

2TI 2:20 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.

2TI 2:21 Therefore, if a man cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

2TI 2:22 Now flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

2TI 2:23 But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels.

2TI 2:24 And the Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,

2TI 2:25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

2TI 2:26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

This is not a ritual. The whole point to this is to instantly change your system of thinking from opposition to God to conformity to God.

Fellowship means to share in common, which can include money in terms of giving, homes, needs, and in the case of the believer and God, thinking!

That is the whole point, to judge or evaluate yourself (which isn’t introspective for after enough knowledge of what sin is you can recognize it quickly), acknowledge the wrong or sin, cease from it or do it or speak it or think it no longer, and finally change back over to the light, which is the mind of Christ
