The teaching ministry of God the Holy Spirit, Part 4; John 14:23-26.

Class Outline:
Still under the 5th ministry of God the HS to the believer at salvation is:
/5. Filling of the HS: God the HS enters us into the PPOG where we can metabolize doctrine and enjoy His enabling power. This is lost in personal sin but recovered through the rebound technique.\
/Filling means to be controlled or to fill up a deficiency. God the HS empowers us with divine power, which fills up our deficiency.\
When we are not filled with the Spirit we are either grieving or quenching the Spirit.
/1 Thess 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit;\
/Quench means to suppress or stifle the power of God the Holy Spirit. This is a failure to yield to His will and power no matter what and rather choosing to use another so-called power.\
EPH 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
The Scriptures often testify to the fact that the Spirit of God is holy and that He is a person. The indwelling presence of this holy person constitutes the body of a believer a temple of God.
/In the nature of the case, in the indwelling presence of His holy person, the presence of sin in any form grieves the Holy Spirit. \
Grieving is used as an anthropopathism, ascribing to God certain human characteristics for the purpose of clarity. We would not think God the HS to weep or in some way get sad over the presence of sin in the temple of God, but the word clearly displays His hatred of sin and the need for quickly rebounding.
/Grieving results in loss of fellowship and eventual misery if it is not remedied by confession. Divine discipline will result if this state continues in the believer. \
Accordingly, when the Christian is exhorted to “grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption” (EPH 4:30), it is an appeal to allow nothing in his life contrary to the holiness of the Spirit. It is clear that the one cause of grieving the Holy Spirit is sin.
Quenching the Spirit may occur first. As we resist the will of God often sin is crouching at the door. In any case the remedy to sin is rebound.
/Quenching the HS is a mental attitude of rejecting His will; remedied by PVTD. Grieving the HS is isolated sin or sins; remedied by the rebound technique. \
We will document the remaining two ministries before highlighting the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit, which falls under the filling of the Spirit.
/6. Sealing ministry of G/HS: this is a signature guarantee of eternal life, invisible assets, and escrow blessings.\
EPH 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation — having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
EPH 1:14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.
/2 Cor 1:21-22
Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge. \
/7. Distribution of a spiritual gift: As He wills, God the HS gives each believer one supernatural spiritual gift. Temporary spiritual gifts of the 1st century do not apply.\
/1 Cor 12:11
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing [a spiritual gift] to each one individually just as He wills. \
John 14:26"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
So under the filling of the HS we have the ministry mentioned by Christ.
/The teaching ministry is a continuing ministry of G/HS throughout the believer’s life whenever he is filled with the Spirit and is positive towards doctrine. \
God the Holy Spirit reveals the truth of doctrine which goes beyond superficial knowledge.
Since the word of God is alive and powerful and since it is eternal and perfect, the natural minded man can know it academically but he will never understand its depths.
And since God’s ways are not man’s ways, often times the verses of scripture look quite foolish to the natural minded man.
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. \
To the natural minded man, the most foolish thing of all becomes the cross of Christ. He looked like He lost up there. How could sin be paid for fully for every man? How could God the Father be satisfied with every man when man’s heart continues to do evil? How could God Almighty be the source of the only meritless system in existence?
My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord.
Therefore, the finite mind of man needs supernatural help. This help cannot come unless the Justice of God is satisfied concerning man and it was through Christ’s cross.
1 Cor 2:1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
Paul was well educated and a natural genius. He could have used superiority of speech and fancy vocabulary, but the understanding of the testimony of God does not depend on human IQ. It depends upon the filling of the Holy Spirit.
/God the HS provides 100% spiritual IQ which overcomes any human IQ. He must not be grieved or quenched when the believer is perceiving doctrine.\
1 Cor 2:2For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.
No background checks are needed in a local assembly. We don’t need to know your income as some churches brazenly ask for. We don’t need to know your lifestyle outside of the church. We don’t even have to know if you’re a believer in Christ. The classroom of the local assembly is to teach Jesus Christ in His person and work and without distractions.
1 Cor 2:3And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. [they said that Paul was harsh in his letters]
1 Cor 2:4And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
1 Cor 2:5that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God [the word of God taught under the F/HS].
1 Cor 2:6Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;
1 Cor 2:7but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God predestined before the ages [EP] to our glory;
1 Cor 2:8the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
1 Cor 2:9but just as it is written,
"Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard,
And which have not entered the heart of man,
All that God has prepared for those who love Him."
/The context is that what your eye has not see, nor ear heard, or has entered ever into your heart, is none other than the mystery doctrine of the church. \
It is God’s mystery and not man’s, therefore it is supernatural and it demands a supernatural system for understanding. The system that God has given is the teaching ministry of God the Holy Spirit.
1 Cor 2:10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
1 Cor 2:11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.
I do not know what it is like to be an animal, nor do I know what it is like to be an angel, but I do know what it is like to be a man. I can identify with many things that man experiences.
If I cannot identify with the thoughts of an animal or angel which are closer to my construction than God, then how could I ever understand the thoughts of God? We have been given the Spirit of God for this purpose. Unto us is given the greatest gift that mankind has ever been given, the right to see into the thoughts of the eternal God.
1 Cor 2:12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God,
We cannot know everything about an infinite God; however there are many things about God and His plan for us that have been freely given.
That’s why no price will ever be put on the teaching of the word of God. This local assembly survives or doesn’t survive on the gracious giving of the local assembly.
1 Cor 2:13which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
/“Thoughts and words” are not in the original language. This verse says that we combine spiritual with spiritual meaning the word of God and the filling of the HS. \
1 Cor 2:14But a natural man [pseuchikos = soulish or without the Holy Spirit] does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.
1 Cor 2:15But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man.
1 Cor 2:16For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
John 14:26"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
