Title: Doctrine of the indwelling Christ part 15. The rebound technique - the grace to maintain communion with God.

ROM 8:12 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh —

ROM 8:13 for if you are living according to the flesh [OSN], you must die [no fellowship]; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body [the death happened at the cross, when you confess those sins you are identifying with that death], you will live [option of PSDs 2-10 to maintain fellowship].

ROM 12:1 I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice [perceiving doctrine at the throne of grace - holy = F/HS], acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

1 Cor 11:30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep.

1 Cor 11:31But if we judged ourselves rightly [rebound], we should not be judged [disciplined].

1 Cor 11:32But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord in order that we may not be condemned along with the world.

2 Cor 13:5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith [in the doctrine]; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you [indwelling of Christ] —  unless indeed you fail the test [fail to recognize Christ in you because you are not in the doctrine]?

EPH 4:22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,

EPH 5:14 For this reason it says,

"Awake, sleeper,

And arise from the dead [temporal death - out of fellowship],

And Christ will shine on you."

HEB 12:1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

/When sin is laid aside we may run in the plan of God since sin is no longer master over us - retroactive positional truth.\

HEB 12:12 Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble,

HEB 12:13and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint [discipline], but rather be healed [restoration to fellowship].

The OT was before the cross; therefore animal sacrifice to depict the redemption of Christ was necessary after the confession of the sinner.

LEV 5:5 'So it shall be when he becomes guilty in one of these, that he shall confess that in which he has sinned.

LEV 5:6'He shall also bring his guilt offering to the Lord for his sin which he has committed, a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin.

On the Day of Atonement the high priest would confess the sins of Israel upon the scape-goat.

LEV 16:21 Then Aaron shall lay both of his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel, and all their transgressions in regard to all their sins; and he shall lay them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who stands in readiness.

When the nation of Israel was under divine discipline it was necessary for the whole of them to confess their iniquity against God and His Law so as to return to Him.

LEV 26:40 'If they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their forefathers [which they continue in], in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also in their acting with hostility against Me

1 Kings 8:33 "When Thy people Israel are defeated before an enemy, because they have sinned against Thee, if they turn to Thee again and confess Thy name and pray and make supplication to Thee in this house,

1 Kings 8:34then hear Thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of Thy people Israel [looking forward to the cross], and bring them back to the land which Thou didst give to their fathers.

Ps 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to Thee,

And my iniquity I did not hide;

I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord";

And Thou didst forgive the guilt of my sin.

Ps 38:18 For I confess my iniquity;

I am full of anxiety because of my sin.

ISA 44:22 "I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud,

And your sins like a heavy mist.

Return to Me, for I have redeemed you."

On Sunday we examined the first result of effective use of rebound, which was to have confidence at the JSOC and avoiding shame and embarrassment.

/ #2 result of effective rebound is production of fruit which glorifies God. \

This goes hand in hand with being confident at the JSOC since divine good production is what you are evaluated for.

1 Cor 3:13 each man's work will become evident; for the day [JSOC] will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.

1 Cor 4:5 Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God.

Turn to:

John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.

/ “nothing” - human good and evil. If an unbeliever can do it then it is not spiritual.\

/divine good - (1) directed by the word of God; (2) motivated by love for God; (3) powered by the F/HS [fruit of the Spirit].\

/ “abide” - present active subjunctive of menw[meno] = to abide without leaving, to continue in a location or sphere, to tarry or to stay.\

This word means to remain in fellowship and not leave for long periods of time. Since there is no one is sinless it would be impossible to remain in fellowship with God indefinitely, but with lightning quick rebound reflexes, this command can be obeyed by the positive believer.

And there in lies the key.

/To remain in fellowship or to abide with the Son and the Father and the HS means the use of problem solving devices skillfully. This skill comes from years of PVTD.\

Therefore, abide comes to mean positive momentum in the spiritual life where the inevitable spiritual growth will result in the production of divine good.

/In religion, the production of divine good is faked by those seeking approbation from God and men, Matt 21:19.\

Matt 21:18 Now in the morning, when He returned to the city, He became hungry.

/The Lord’s hunger represents His desire for the production of divine good.\

Matt 21:19And seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it, and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He said to it, "No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you." And at once the fig tree withered.

If a fig tree had leaves it meant that it was mature and had fruit. This tree only had an overt showing of fruit, but when God peaked behind the leaves, there was no substance. The withering represents God’s application of the fifth cycle of discipline upon Israel. Our own lack of spiritual growth and resulting fruit production will also result in discipline from God.

John 15:6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away [loss of fellowship] as a branch, and dries up [continued carnality through lack of rebound]; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned [three stages of divine discipline].

As believers we must rightly divide the word of truth. If the context of this verse is the lake of fire, then salvation is not faith alone in Christ alone. It would have to be faith plus continued fellowship.

There are plenty of religious folks out there that would willingly teach you that, but that translation disagrees with hundreds of other scriptures. The word of God is God breathed and it is seamless. Fire does speak of judgment and here it refers to divine discipline. We do not see the phrase, “weeping and gnashing of teeth,” like we usually see for the lake of fire.
