The divine production of the Church - representing Christ John 14:12

Class Outline:

/Human good: a thought, word or action motivated by love for self, guided by human viewpoint, empowered by sin nature, and chosen by you.\

The doctrine of human good

/1. Human good is dead to God’s plan, therefore it is called “dead works” in Hebrews 9:14.\

/HEB 9:14

how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? \

/2. Human good is not acceptable to God at any time, Isaiah 64:6. \

/ISA 64:6

For all of us have become like one who is unclean,

And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;

And all of us wither like a leaf,

And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.\

/3. Therefore human good has no place in the plan of God, 2 Timothy 1:9. \

/2 Tim 1:9

who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, \

/4. However, a distinction should be made between human good and morality, Romans 13:4,5.\

/ROM 13:4-5

for it [governing authority] is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil. Wherefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake. \

/5. Human good will not save mankind, Titus 3:5. \

/Titus 3:5

He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, \

/6. The believer’s human good is revealed and destroyed at the judgment seat of Christ, 1 Cor 3:11-16.\

/7. Human good is the basis for the unbeliever’s indictment at the last judgment, Revelation 20:12-15. \

REV 20:12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.

REV 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

REV 20:14 And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

REV 20:15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

/8. Human good has as its logical outlet boasting, Ephesians 2:9.\

/EPH 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. \

Thus ends our study on divine and human good.

John 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [the preposition “eis” shows us that this is not for salvation but post salvation faith in His word], the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father.

But why would there be more or greater divine good works during the Church-age than were performed by Christ?

/The greater works are in quantity and not quality. Why? Christ, the vine, sits at the right hand of God which believers, the branches, produce His works on earth.\

/[slide: golden lampstand/vine]\

/The HS as well as the mystery doctrine will be released to the entire church and seated at the right hand of God is the Advocate defending and comforting us, and the High Priest interceding for us.\

1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

/ “Advocate” - parakletos [parakletos] = one who pleads another’s case, one who aids, helper, assistant.\

This shows us that Christ wasn’t replaced by the HS, but rather that the HS was given as a second Advocate. So we have an Advocate within on earth and an Advocate seated at the right hand of God in heaven.

/John 14:16-17

"And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;that is the Spirit of truth,\

Not only does He advocate or aid us at the right hand of God but He also prays for us.

/HEB 7:5

Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.\

Yet not only Christ prays for us but so does the HS. So then again, in the same pattern as advocacy do we have intercessory prayer. The indwelling HS prays for us from earth and JC prays for us from the right hand of God in heaven.

/ROM 8:26

And in the same way the Spirit also helps [lends a helping hand] our weakness [undeserved suffering]; for we do not know how to pray as we should [perplexed in undeserved suffering], but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;\

The members of the Trinity do not speak to one another in words or language like we are limited too. Therefore, groaning is used as an anthropopathism to help us understand that it is beyond our intellect to understand what God the HS is actually praying for, but we can know for sure that it is a prayer to enable us to understand the implications and the solutions to undeserved suffering.

Principle:

/You have two Advocates and two Intercessors, one indwelling you on earth and the other, the Victor of the AC in heaven. \

Implication: Tell me what it is that you cannot do that God has asked you to do?

So every member of the body of Christ has the potential to work the works of Christ.

The greater works have to deal with the quantity of believers that will exist all throughout the Church, all of whom are indwelt by the Spirit, in union with Christ, and royal priests.

It is through Christ that the word, the plan, and the power to execute the plan will come to each individual believer.

In addition to this, there will be an enormous amount of answered prayer.

/As the Intercessor seated at the right hand of God, all prayer goes through Christ, as we pray in His name. The Intercessor that fills our soul, G/HS empowers us; therefore all merit goes to Them.\

John 14:13 "And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 14:14 "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

/As the Advocate the Lord defends and comforts you when you are accused, ZEC 3:4.\

/Zech 3:4

And he spoke and said to those who were standing before him saying, "Remove the filthy garments from him." Again he said to him, "See, I have taken your iniquity away from you and will clothe you with festal robes."\

/Since Christ is the source of salvation, truth, power [He asked for the HS for us], prayer, etc. the greater things that the Church will do are really the greater things that He will do through the Church.\

Therefore, none of us can take any credit for divine good production.

/2 Cor 4:7

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves; \

EPH 1:15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you, and your love for all the saints,

EPH 1:16 do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers;

EPH 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.

EPH 1:18I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

EPH 1:19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might

EPH 1:20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

/The session is when the power was given: the filling of the HS, the mystery doctrine, and the plan that He prototyped.\

EPH 1:21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come.

EPH 1:22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,

EPH 1:23 which is His body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all.

/Whatever divine good the church accomplishes it is a direct result of the Head of the church.\
