The sacrifices of the royal priest at his altar John 14;12; Heb 13:7-10
length: 1:01:56 - taught on Sep, 28 2011
Class Outline:
/Mechanically, divine good is produced by a balance of Bible doctrine in the heart [right lobe] and the filling of the HS empowering the soul so that doctrine is applied from the launching pad of the soul, HEB 13:10.\
The balance of power in the soul cannot be repeated enough. Like a battery has a positive and a negative terminal and it will not produce a flow of energy to do work unless both terminals are connected, so metabolized doctrine and the filling of the HS must together balance power in the soul.
HEB 13:7 Remember [concentrate on] those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
“led you” - your PT. “conduct” - grace lifestyle.
HEB 13:8 Jesus Christ is [no “is] the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.
“Jesus Christ” emphasizes His humanity in the hypostatic union - true humanity and undiminished deity in one person forever. The verb, “to be” is omitted to emphasize His celebrityship.
HEB 13:9 Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were thus occupied were not benefited.
“carried away” - to be seduced by false doctrines when a believer is status quo negative volition.
The negative volition toward doctrine is characterized by several factors. The first of these is indifference or apathy toward Bible teaching. The second is indifference or apathy toward anyone who is teaching Bible doctrine, having antagonism or personality hang-ups toward other members of the congregation, being too busy or too bored for face to face teaching, or failure to appropriate grace provision of metabolizing doctrine [assembling for Bible class face to face, or by other means], and failure to rebound.
We are not here to clean up the devil’s world. We are here to produce divine good from the balance of power that has been graciously given to us by God.
EPH 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Everything man has done since the fall of Adam has made for chaos. When Adam lost control of the earth this became the devil’s world and naturally that had made for further chaos.
But there is a creation in this world that is from God and is therefore ordered, and that is the new creature in Christ.
If we remain under human control, in other words, we remain under human viewpoint, OSN control of the soul, producing human good and the deeds of the flesh then our lives remain in chaos.
/When God says you are “His workmanship,” He has created for you an identity. You are identified with Christ and a citizen of heaven.\
/ “workmanship” - poiema [poiema] = what is manufactured. It is passive in nature - God did the manufacturing.\
Stop trying to manufacture something out of yourself. All human self improvement programs are temporary. God has manufactured something that will stand for eternity, the new creature in Christ. Realize what God has done by filling your heart with His word and then you will fulfill your purpose. God’s word is alive and powerful and also eternal. It will make permanent changes.
“created in Christ Jesus for the purpose of good works,” reveals your purpose.
“that we should walk in them,” peripateo, which means to walk around (walk-about) means lifestyle. “Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” GAL 5:21.
And, once again in grace, God has already ordained these divine good works in eternity past. Keep perceiving and metabolizing the doctrine and you will discover the works that God has prepared beforehand.
/The new creature uses the circulation of doctrine in his heart under the filling of the HS to produce divine good, therefore his life remains divinely ordered while the world around him is in chaos.\
ROM 12:1 I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [the temple of the HS] a living and holy sacrifice [filled with the Spirit, concentrating, and ready to learn objectively], acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
/By presenting your body to the inculcation of the word of God you are preparing your altar for service and worship. HEB 13:10 We have an altar, from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.\
ROM 12:2 And do not be conformed [molded] to this world [age = legalism, human viewpoint, deeds of the flesh [changes from age to age, but the source is the same - cosmis diabolicus], but be transformed [passive voice - the word does the transforming] by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
[corrected translation]/ “test for the purpose of approval what the will of God is, that which is divine good and well pleasing and complete.”\
This is not a one-shot dedication where, under extreme emotion, you say that you are going to dedicate your life to God. That won’t last the parking lot. Salvation is a one-shot decision. This is an accumulation of thousands of decisions to persevere under the inculcation of the word of God.
Agathos and ergon together mean production from the source of divine power and complete exclusion of human power. To break the barrier of spiritual maturity and begin the normal spiritual life your priority must be God’s will and not your own.
Principle:
/The destiny of man is not to work for God, but for God to work for him. The ultimate is the real imputation of divine blessing to the mature believer. In this the work of God for man reaches its peak of grace which glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. \
/Divine good is victory in the AC; ROM 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. \
/Metabolizing doctrine is the means of producing divine good. COL 1:9-10; 2 Ti 2:21, 3:17; Titus 2:7.\
COL 1:9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
COL 1:10 so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.
2 Tim 2:16 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,
2 Tim 2:17 and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
2 Tim 2:18 men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and thus they upset the faith of some.
2 Tim 2:19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of the Lord abstain from wickedness."
2 Tim 2:20 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.
2 Tim 2:21 Therefore, if a man cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
2 Tim 3:17 that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
Titus 2:7 in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified,
Titus 2:8 sound in speech which is beyond reproach, in order that the opponent may be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.
/God is actively involved in providing grace to you so that you may produce divine good, 2Thess 2:16-17; 2CO 9:8.\
2 Thess 2:16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace,
2 Thess 2:17 comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
/2 Cor 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; \
/1 Cor 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. \
People, believers and unbelievers alike, do not understand grace. It is grace that needs to be taught from behind pulpits today.
