The doctrine of glorifying God, Part 4, John 15:8.Title: The doctrine of glorifying God, Part 4, John 15:8.
The first and most important aspect of the believer glorifying God.
1. Growing to spiritual maturity by means of the mystery doctrine and the filling of the HS whereby the believer produces fruit glorifies God.
What follows would all necessarily fall under this category since everything that I will subsequently document all occur by means of spiritual growth.
a. Believing the promises of God gives glory to God, Rom 4:20,
Rom 4:16 For this reason it is by faith [no longer by the Law], that it might be in accordance with grace, in order that the promise may be certain to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,
Rom 4:17(as it is written, "A father of many nations have I made you") in the sight of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist.
Paul is showing here that God has ability and power that is limitless [omnipotence] so that you may know that your faith in Him is justified.
Rom 4:18In hope against hope he believed, in order that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, "So shall your descendants be."
Rom 4:19And without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb;
Rom 4:20yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,
Rom 4:21and being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able also to perform.
2 Cor 1:20 For as many as may be the promises of God, in Him they are yes; wherefore also by Him is our Amen [object of faith] to the glory of God through us.
I looked into an extensive list of promises from the Bible and I estimate that there are approximately 660 of them. So, I’m just going to give you a few.
Ps 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Ps 5:12 For it is Thou who dost bless the righteous man, O Lord, Thou dost surround him with favor as with a shield.
Ps 3:8 Salvation belongs to the Lord; Thy blessing be upon Thy people!
Ps 23:6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Rom 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
1 Cor 3:21-22 So then let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you,
1 Tim 4:8 for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
Ps 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?
Ps 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace and sleep; for You Lord only make me to dwell in safety.
Ps 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of all of them.
Prov 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Ps 55:22 Cast all your burdens upon the Lord and He shall sustain you; He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Ps 56:11 In God I put my trust. I will not be afraid of what man can do to me.
Deut 31:8 And the Lord, He it is who goes before you; He will not fail you or forsake you. Fear not, neither be confused.
1 Pet 5:7 Casting all your anxieties on Him; for He cares for you.
Application of faith to the promises of God is the function of the faith rest drill, problem solving device #3.
Faith rest drill: PSD #3. 1. Claim a promise and mix it with faith 2. Apply a doctrine that supports the promise 3. Rest in God’s virtue and faithfulness [tranquility].
Doctrines that support God’s promises all center around His character. These doctrines put muscle on your faith, which tells us that there is only one way to increase your faith and that is to keep listening to the word of God.
A promise is only as good as the one who makes it. Some people we learn to trust and others we learn to distrust. However, God is always true and faithful and can be no other way.

Application of the FRD will avoid stress in the soul. Stress will always result in the compounding of mental attitude sins. Stress affects your perception of reality and halts any process of learning. It is damaging to the soul and mind and should be avoided at all costs. This is why God gives us over 600 promises in the scripture. He is shouting to us – cast all your cares upon Me for I care for you.
Long time exposure to stress will lead to psychosis. Some show their stress and others are good at hiding it. But they will both implode if the stress continues. It’s just that the latter type will surprise you.
If you have been exposed to stress for a long period of time there is a perfect solution through the word of God. Most of us have grown up in stressful homes, some much more than others.
Then of course there is school and the stress of high school. Satan has done a wonderful job of teaching the next generation that they will all be smart, good looking, and famous. Everybody gets a trophy and everybody plays and everyone is praised in mediocrity. The harsh realization in adulthood is that a lot of hard work is needed to succeed in the world. The dreams of becoming a professional baseball player, fabulously rich business man, etc. all become realities of mundane jobs. Then they demand that the rich give them wealth.
There is stress in unfulfilled expectations and people sublimate with all kinds of distractions.
Yet with God there is no hard work or human success needed; just faith in a system that He completed the work to establish.
Heb 10:19 Since therefore, brethren, we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,
Heb 10:21and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
Heb 10:22 let us draw near [to the Holy of Holies] with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
You are to resolve your own problems from your own storehouse of doctrine and make your own good decisions from a position of strength. That position is inside the PPOG for your life. That’s the place of rest.
By applying faith to what God has promised through His word and provided by means of His grace you accomplish the first stage of the faith rest technique, 2Cor 5:7.
2 Cor 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight [your lifestyle becomes one of faith in God’s word].
The second stage of the FRD is to apply a doctrine concerning God’s character and then enter into His rest, Heb 4:10.
