Communion Service - The blood on the robe.

Blood on the robe: Communion.

Covered with my OSN I just want to hide my nakedness. That nakedness comes in the form of guilt, shame, self-pity, a lack of confidence, fear, doubt, and all manners of weakness.

Adam and the woman clothed their nakedness with fig leaves. God clothed them with animal skins as a shadow type of what was to come and now we clothe ourselves with Christ.

There is yet another characteristic of this seamless inner garment that I did not mention.

When Christ was scourged He was stripped naked. The Romans did this to embarrass the criminal. After the scourging His garments were put back on Him, along with a crown of thorns, before He was presented to Pilate again.

His seamless inner garment would have been thoroughly stained with His blood. This was not only true then, but it will be true in eternity.

Rev 19:13 And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood; and His name is called The Word of God.

Notice how the name is associated with the robe dipped in blood. This is not told to us so that we will be sad for all eternity, but to always remember why we have what we have and are what we are.

The blood of Christ was the price that was paid for our salvation. Like the robe it is representative. It represents His work on the cross in dying a spiritual death as a substitute for us.

Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

He will also have His 5 scars forever in heaven. These are not sad things, but remembrances. For the same reason we are given this one ritual to bring Him into remembrance.

His sacrifice and its remembrance gives joy to the God head. We will not see it their way until we grow up spiritually.

Heb 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Isa 53:10

But the Lord was pleased

To crush Him, putting Him to grief;

If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,

He will see His offspring,

He will prolong His days,

And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.

We should rejoice as well. The Lord said to His disciples that He longed to celebrate the last Passover with them. And then He said that He would not do so again until we meet Him again and we all lift that fourth Passover cup at our wedding feast.

Our resurrection bodies will not have scars, nor will our garments for all eternity be stained with blood.

Rev 19:14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.

Rev 19:15And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may smite the nations; and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

Rev 19:16And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

1Co 11:23-26

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me."  25 In the same way He took the cup also, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."  26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.
