Joh 17:24 "Father, I desire that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am, in order that they may behold My glory, which Thou hast given Me; for Thou didst love Me before the foundation of the world.
A crucified deliverer was to Greeks an absurd contradiction in terms, just as to Jews a crucified Messiah was a piece of scandalous blasphemy. To those who believed the message this image was a liberating power, which broke the stranglehold of selfishness and vice and purified them from within.
To both Jew and Greek, the message of Christ crucified had thus accomplished something that the precepts of the Law and no body of Greek philosophic teaching could have done for them.
We have begun to note passages in the NT that deal with God's glory and its revelation to the believer.
This glory has been made available to the world, but some refuse it for the sake of idols, Rom 1:22-23.
Perseverance in doing good is synonymous with seeking for His glory in order to see more of it and that more clearly, Rom 2:5-11.
No man can see the glory of God without regeneration through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, Rom 3:23.
By standing in grace [His gifts] we gain joyful confidence in more of His glory being revealed in the future, Rom 5:1-2.
His resurrection revealed the glory of the Father's plan, which when seen by the believer, results in his own resurrection life, Rom 6:4.
Suffering for His sake is not worthy to be compared with His glory. See His glory and the suffering will seem small, Rom 8:15-18; 1Pe 4:12-16; 2Co 4:15-18.
1Pe 4:12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;
1Pe 4:13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation.
1Pe 4:14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
1Pe 4:15 By no means let any of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;
1Pe 4:16 but if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not feel ashamed, but in that name let him glorify God.
2Co 4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God.
2Co 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

The creation will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God when they are revealed.
Rom 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.
Rom 8:20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope
Rom 8:21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
Since all believers are sharers in Christ's glory, they should accept one another as Christ accepted us.
Rom 15:1 Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves.
Rom 15:2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.
Rom 15:3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached Thee fell upon Me."
Rom 15:4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Rom 15:5 Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus;
Rom 15:6 that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom 15:7 Wherefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.
Rom 15:8 For I say that Christ has become a servant to the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God to confirm the promises given to the fathers,

A major part of the revealed glory of God is the mystery doctrine of the Church age.
1Co 2:7 but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God predestined before the ages to our glory;
1Co 2:8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
1Co 2:9 but just as it is written, "Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him."
Col 1:26 the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations; but has now been manifested to His saints,
Col 1:27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
2Co 3:1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of commendation to you or from you?
2Co 3:2 You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men;
2Co 3:3 being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts.
2Co 3:4 And such confidence we have through Christ toward God.
2Co 3:5 Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God,
2Co 3:6 who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2Co 3:7 But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was,
2Co 3:8 how shall the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory?
2Co 3:9 For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory.
2Co 3:10 For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory on account of the glory that surpasses it.
2Co 3:11 For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory.
2Co 3:12 Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech,
2Co 3:13 and are not as Moses, who used to put a veil over his face that the sons of Israel might not look intently at the end of what was fading away.
2Co 3:14 But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ.
2Co 3:15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart;
2Co 3:16 but whenever a man turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
2Co 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
2Co 4:6 For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Everything we do, we should do with His glory (person, essence, purpose, etc.) in mind. |
