Title: Doctrine of the Angelic Conflict, part 69 - The essence of God - Omnipotence (miracles). MAT 26:51-56; EPH 1:20; 1CO 6:14; ROM 6:4; COL 2:12.

34. Healing of Malcus’ ear. The power of God is sufficient for all victories in life, while human ingenuity or violence will accomplish nothing, MAT 26:51-56.

MAT 26:51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus reached and drew out his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

The sword bearer is revealed by John as Simon Peter as well as the name of the slave of the high priest as Malcus.

MAT 26:52 Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.

Rash action is not what is needed when overcoming God’s opposition, but rather faith, doctrine (PSD’s), the Spirit, and prayer.

MAT 26:53 "Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

72,000 angels are an option, but by far not the best one. The AC is won on the cross and not on the battlefield.

MAT 26:54 "How then shall the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen this way?"

ISA 53:5

But He was pierced through for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our iniquities;

The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,

And by His scourging we are healed.

ISA 53:6

All of us like sheep have gone astray,

Each of us has turned to his own way;

But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all

To fall on Him.

ISA 53:7

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

Yet He did not open His mouth;

Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,

And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers,

So He did not open His mouth.

MAT 26:55 At that time Jesus said to the multitudes, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as against a robber? Every day I used to sit in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me.

Luke adds:

LUK 22:53

"While I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on Me; but this hour and the power of darkness are yours."

I reveal this to remind us that the darkness has a power, but not as powerful as the light. Power will only succumb to a greater power, and even then only reluctantly.

MAT 26:56 "But all this has taken place that the Scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled." Then all the disciples left Him and fled.

There are a few other instances in the gospels where Jesus heals in general but without specific details so they were not added to this list.

For example:

MAT 8:16

And when evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill

This is in no way a complete list, but the list of those things of power that God worked through the Christ that are recorded for our application.

JOH 21:25

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books which were written.

Never before the Church Age has God’s power been made available to all believers. In the Old Testament, only a few believers had the use of divine power.

God has delegated more power to the individual believer in this dispensation than ever before in human history.

The power of the Word of God in the stream of consciousness of your soul is infinitely greater than the power of the overt miracles as seen in the first advent as well as in the OT.

There is no greater power for any person in the human race than the power of metabolized doctrine in the right lobe of the soul.

Moses longed to see our day as did all of the OT prophets.

MAT 13:17

"For truly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

EPH 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

EPH 1:19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might

EPH 1:20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

EPH 1:21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come.

EPH 1:22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,

EPH 1:23 which is His body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all.

The power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is the same power available to you as a member of the royal family of God.

Christ’s resurrection was accomplished by all three members of the Trinity and now their power has been shared with every CA believer.

The omnipotence of God the Father in Christ’s resurrection: EPH 1:20; 1CO 6:14; ROM 6:4; 1PE 1:21.

1CO 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.

1CO 6:13 Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for food; but God will do away with both of them [at resurrection]. Yet [now in time, before the resurrection] the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord is for the body.

The believer has been redeemed, which means the forgiveness of sins and a policy of grace, but the body and soul now belong to Him.

EPH 1:7-8

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us.

1CO 6:14 Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.

1CO 6:15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? May it never be!

1CO 6:16 Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a harlot is one body with her? For He says, "The two will become one flesh."

1CO 6:17 But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

Abiding in Him - remaining in the PPOG for your life, maintaining fellowship with Him and the Spirit, thinking the mind of Christ and relying of the plan of the Father. This is correct intimacy while a harlot is not.

1CO 6:18 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.

1CO 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?

1CO 6:20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

Notice the similarities between 1Co 6 and Rom 6.

ROM 6:1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace might increase?

ROM 6:2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

ROM 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?

ROM 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

ROM 6:5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection,

ROM 6:6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin;

ROM 6:7 for he who has died is freed from sin.

ROM 6:8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,

ROM 6:9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.

ROM 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

ROM 6:11 Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
