Title: Angelic Conflict part 166: Human history (soul and spirit) - HEB 4:12; ROM 8:12-17; EPH 5:1-21; 1TH 5:5-8; 1JO 4:1-6.

The Holy Spirit identifies with the new spirit and not the old spirit of slavery, jealousy, fear, error, or slumber.

ROM 8:12 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh —

ROM 8:13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die [temporal death and eventually the sin unto death]; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

ROM 8:14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

ROM 8:15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again [old spirit], but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"

2TI 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity [fear - old spirit], but of power and love and discipline.

The spirit of power, love, and discipline is exactly what an adopted adult son who is ready to take on the family business needs to be successful.

At salvation each believer receives a spirit in accord with adult adoption into the RFOG and the dignity that comes with such a lofty position.

The adult son was adopted at age 14 into a position as one who was ready to be trained as an heir of the family assets. Therefore, this adoption as sons of God comes with an inheritance that demands capacity from virtue and honor and so God gives us a brand new spirit that influences us in that way. As a diving guide the Holy Spirit identifies with the new spirit to lead us to truth and power.

This new spirit is the neshamah of the new creature in Christ:

GEN 2:7

Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Therefore it is not a restoration of what died in Adam when he sinned, but a spirit given from the last Adam which is a regeneration into union with Him, much greater than what Adam lost, called a life giving spirit.

1CO 15:44-45

it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. So also it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

ROM 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

 "bears witness with" - marture,w[martureo] = to bear witness to or to testify to.

ROM 8:17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [receiving all rewards], if indeed we suffer with Him [in the same manner as Him] in order that we may also be glorified with Him.

All believers are heirs of God, but it seems to state here that fellow heirs with Christ are the ones who actually receive the rewards of the inheritance and for the reason, in the same manner as Christ, that they suffered in this world that hates Christ, which is undeserved suffering that resulted from their walking with Him and being sanctified from the world system, or the spirit of the world, and enjoying His left behind rest through it all.

When the believer has a willingness to live his life in the light of Christ, i.e. by means of the word of God, God the HS will fully influence him in that endeavor.

JOH 7:17

If any man is willing to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from Myself.

EPH 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;

EPH 5:2 and walk in love [lifestyle marked by divine love], just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

EPH 5:3 But do not let immorality or any impurity or greed even be named among you, as is proper among saints;

EPH 5:4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

EPH 5:5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater [a reference to unbelievers], has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

EPH 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

EPH 5:7 Therefore do not be partakers [partners in life or fellowship] with them;

At salvation each believer receives a spirit in accord with adult adoption into the RFOG and the dignity that comes with such a lofty position.

Paul's case is based on our adoption into the Royal Family of God which at salvation, through regeneration, being made new creatures in Christ, brand new spiritual species that was never seen before and will never be seen again, and so he is asking us, why live as those who are destined for the wrath of God, the immoral, impure, covetous people who are idolaters. Their description is close to our list of the antagonists of the diligence in entering God's rest.

EPH 5:8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light

The light is the person of Jesus Christ.

EPH 5:9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

EPH 5:10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.

"trying" - dokima,zw[dokimazo; present active participle] = to test for purity. This is not testing God, but testing things that one thinks are acceptable to God for their purity.

The use of this word acknowledges that we're not always going to get it right. The inference is that I tried something that I thought would be acceptable to the Lord and then under the scrutiny of the word of God I discovered that it was either pure or not pure.

The only standard by which the results of these tests can be shown to be acceptable to God or not is the word of God and never the wisdom of men or the emotions.

EPH 5:11 And do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;

EPH 5:12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.

EPH 5:13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light [the mind of Christ], for everything that becomes visible is light [reflection of the word of God].

2CO 3:18

But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

EPH 5:14 For this reason it says, [ISA 60:1-2]

"Awake, sleeper [no light],

And arise from the dead [no desire for light],

And Christ will shine on you."

That is recovery. Fully judge, acknowledge any sin, cease from it, change your thinking back to light.

ROM 11:8

just as it is written, [ISA 29:10]

"God gave them a spirit of stupor,

Eyes to see not and ears to hear not,

Down to this very day."

EPH 5:15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise,

1CO 2:13

which things [things freely given by God] we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

EPH 5:16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

EPH 5:17 So then do not be foolish [indicating that we can definitely be], but understand what the will of the Lord is.

The cure for foolishness is to understand the will of the Lord.

EPH 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine [foreign influence of brain and therefore soul], for that is dissipation, but be filled [fully influenced] with the Spirit,

"dissipation" - avswti,a[asotia] = prodigality, wastefulness, riotous living.

"be filled" - plhro,w[pleroo; present passive imperative] = to be made full, to be fully influenced, or to complete. God the Holy Spirit fills or influences the man so that he is spiritual.

EPH 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;

EPH 5:20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;

EPH 5:21 and be subject to one another in the [reverent] fear of Christ.

1TH 5:4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day [Rapture] should overtake you like a thief;

1TH 5:5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;

1TH 5:6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.

1TH 5:7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night.

EPH 5:14

For this reason it says,

"Awake, sleeper [no light],

And arise from the dead [no desire for light],

And Christ will shine on you."

1TH 5:8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober [spiritually wise], having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.
